Who Else Knows

Many people know - and have exposed -- Fairtax as utter nonsense.

The best way to learn how goofy fairtax is -- is to just study what Fairtax OWN spokesmen say about it, and read their OWN fine print.

But this is no secret.  There are NO economist in America who support a trillion dollar hidden tax on government, there are NO economist in America who support taxing people 200% of their income.   There are NO economist in America who support Fairtax-- because that is what Fairtax is.

There are leading economist who have exposed Fairtax as the goofy farce it is.

  •   Dale Jorgenson, the leading "researcher" that Fairtax said they base their plan on -- DOES NOT support Faitax, and says it can't possibly work.
  •  Bruce Bartlett, one of the leading economic writers,  who played a pivotal role in Ronald Reagan's tax cuts, says Fairtax is a farce, an absurdity.
  • Wall Street Journal
  • Joint Committe on Taxation, a study done at the request of President Bush, showed Fairtax to be profoundly disinegenous - aka lying.
  • Gale,
  • Neal Boortz, ironically, has shown Fairtax to be goofy -- Boortz wrote in "Straightening out Some Confusion" article, that we all would (essentially) need to take a 20% cut in pay for Fairtax to bring prices down.
  • National Review
  • Libertarian CPA

Okay Jim, you wanted me to ask you questions,
Here are some.

Preliminary question.  Would you have the intellectual curiousity, or moral courage, to admit you had been duped by a BS plan?

QUESTIONS

1) Why didn't Fairtax ever mention this massive new tax on city and state governments, except in one or two sentences, in their fine print?

2) When is Fairtax going to tell city and state governments about this massive new tax?

3) How can a plan possibly be "transparent" if you have  hidden the biggest revenue stream (a tax on city and state governments)?

4) Name four mayors -- out of 30,000 or so -  who know about this massive new tax on their city governments.

5) Name one governor - out of 50 -- who knkow about his massive new tax on their state government.

6) Show us ANY research for the estimated tax the following state governments will have to pay

a) California
b) New York
c) Florida
d) Texas

7) What percent of federal tax revenues would come from this tax on state government spending?

8) How will a person with cancer pay 50,000 dollars in sales tax on their cancer treatment, if they only make 20,000 a year.

9) List the cities in New Jersey, and the Fairtax those city governments will have to pay.

10) Please list the names of your "economist"  other than the one or two paid by Fairtax, who think city and state government can pay massive taxes on all their spending (other than education spending).

Nice try, but full of hot air.

Hobes may have said MAN should be taxed on his consumption, but he never said government should pay itself a pretend tax on its consumption and count it as real money.

    See the difference yet?

  2. Seeker,
There are responses I could make, but let's try something new. Since you don't favor the FairTax, I would like to hear from you what it is that you do support. Could you favor me with that reply?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
    ~Jim

  3. Jim,

Well, sure.Thanks. I support the truth, and logic. I am not being flippant.

The truth matters. This has totally escaped the Fairtax leaders who essentially have a flim flam plan, one they know is bogus. I think you are starting to figure that out -- as soon as your ego lets you.

You adhere to Fairtax because you would lose face and social status if you changed your mind now. Once a person gets even a small part of their self esteem by adopting a position, it takes a special kind of courage to change.
In fact, it's almost never done, unless a person can see a benefit to their ego and self esteem by switching.

If I had invested as much of my ego and status as you have in Fairtax, I could not have seen it objectively either.

I assume you mean what do I believe in about taxes?

  4. Seeker,
I see you have chosen not to answer my question substantively. Does that mean that you suport today's system of income taxes?
